Parents usually tell their children to not eat too much candy after trick-or-treating. Now, there is science to prove just how dangerous too much candy can be!
The American Chemical Society (ACS) created a video to show how much candy can make you sick, or even possibly kill you, YAHOO reports.
For example, if your favorite Halloween treat is candy corn, make sure to stop eating well short of 1,627 pieces. Based on ACS’s calculations, eating that large amount in one sitting for a 180-pound person can be fatal.
As for bite-size chocolate candy bars, don’t eat more than 262 pieces in one sitting.
“Adding all of the sugar to your body is going to change the balance of water in your cells,” Matt Hartings, professor of chemistry at American University, told ABC News. “When you have so much sugar floating around in your body … you’ll likely to start leeching water from all your cells.”
It can be very dangerous to eat all that sugar in one sitting. Curious how many candy bars and candy corns pieces would be toxic for you? Plug your weight into this formula.
(W*13.5)/9.3 = Pieces of fun sized candy
(W*13.5)/1.5 = Pieces of candy corn
