Connecticut police are urging parents to be cautious after a box of candy that had been opened and resealed was discovered at a local elementary school's "Monster Mash."
A fun-sized box of Dots was given to a student during the event. When the box was opened it was clear the box had already been opened as all the colors except red were missing.
“DOTS candy routinely come in assorted colors in each box,” they said. “This box, once opened by the resident tonight, revealed that all the DOTS inside the box were the same color [red]."
The box had noticeably been glued shut.
“It is unknown if the candy inside the box was also tampered with,” the police cautioned.
The candy has been sent to a lab for testing.
In the meantime, police are warning parents to be vigilant.
“If you aren’t sure if your candy may have been tampered with, we urge you to error on the side of caution and merely discard the candy,” they wrote.
