Lexie Roessler's parents celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary this Halloween and people are loving the reason that their anniversary falls on the holiday.
The 16-year-old shared that when her parents decided to get married they opted to have a non-traditional wedding. So non-traditional, in fact, that their friends thought they were attending a Halloween party.
Lexie's mother's father had recently died, so she wanted to have a fun, relaxed wedding.
“She wasn’t going to have him to walk her down the aisle, so she knew she had to do something different,” Lexie told BuzzFeed.
The couple dressed as a bride and groom, but they weren't in costumes.
“My mom and dad had someone dressed as former [Ohio State] coach Woody Hayes explain why my parents were dressed as a bride and groom,” Lexie said.
In honor of Halloween and her parents' anniversary, Lexie shared pictures from the unorthodox wedding and Twitter fell in love.
“They definitely got creative,” Lexie said. “There were still prizes for the costumes like a typical party.”
While people can't get enough of the unique wedding, Lexie and her family don't think anything of it.
“Growing up, I just thought this was normal. I never thought it was crazy or weird,” she said. “My parents think it’s funny and they’re just confused about it.”
