We have some good news for agave-spirit lovers! A study has found a link between tequila and weight loss, Marie Claire reports.
According to the American Chemical Society, sugars found in plants that make tequila can help lower your blood sugar. The sugars in agave plants are called agavins and are non-digestible which means they won’t raise your blood sugar.
The study used mice to research and found that they ate less and had lower blood sugar levels when they were given a standard diet and drank water with agavins added. The mice that did not consume agavins did not experience these results.
Another plus while consuming agavins is that a hormone called GLP-1 is produced which keeps stomachs full for a longer period of time.
