Scottish brewer BrewDog wants to open the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel in Columbus, Ohio.
Called, “The Doghouse,” the $6 million project will feature a craft beer spa with beer-based treatments, beer taps in the bedrooms, a hot tub filled with Punk IPA beer, and of course as a necessity we all need — a beer fridge in the shower.
While the design process is underway, the hotel is also looking to serve beer-infused three-course breakfasts, lunches and dinners, which will also be served and paired with artisanal craft beers.
In other words, the hotel “will have it all,” assuming you’re obsessed with all things craft beer. With rooms from $250 a night, guests can wake up “to the view of our sour beer foeders” and “smell of freshly mashed malt” in luxury. The hotel also plans to feature hop-oil pedicures, malted-barley massages and hops-infused face masks — as getting drunk will be a reality for some.
Featuring beer options from here to there, Americans are definitely behind this idea. The campaign, which went live on Friday at Indiegogo was initially aiming to raise $75,000 in 30 days, but has exceeded with more than $97,000 raised in just two days.
Perks included for backers of the project will get free nights at the hotel and exclusively receive the first five releases from their sour beer brewery, which the project will also fund for on-site production.
BrewDog states that those who contribute more than $30,000 are also able to host an all-night event, such as wedding or a birthday.
“Beer geeks around the world have been crying out for a beer hotel since we first floated the idea on social media, so we’re going to kick-start the most ambitious project we’ve ever planned, all with the backing of our global community of beer fans,” said BrewDog co-founder and CEO, James Watt.
The DogHouse is set to open by the end of September 2018. The Scottish brewery is known as one of the U.K.’s best-selling craft breweries, exporting to more than 60 countries with 49 bars worldwide. They have already opened their first U.S. restaurant and bar in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
