Dunkin’ Donuts Is Getting Rid of Its Iconic Drink and People Are Devastated

| Trending News

If you’re a Dunkin Donuts fan, prepare to say goodbye to one of the chain’s signature drinks before the end of summer.

According to CNBC, the company broke news Tuesday by revealing they would remove the beloved Coffee Coolatta from their menu after stating it was no longer “good enough,” and adding a new frozen drink in its place.

The move highlights Dunkin’ Donuts’ push to promote different coffee-related drinks as new brews become more popular. Because of this change, the chain started serving cold brew coffee last summer and is now serving nitro cold brew in five locations with plans to roll it out in more stores soon.

The company shared that the Frozen Dunkin’ Coffee will be the Coolatta’s successor. Not only does it pack more of a coffee punch than its beloved predecessor does, but the new drink has the chain’s own coffee extract, ice, liquid cane sugar and dairy. Customers can also customize it with various flavors and dairy mixers.

Fans of the drink took to social media this week to share their thoughts, calling the discontinuation an overall upset.

With hopes to win customers over, Dunkin’ Donuts also announced Thursday that beginning March 27, they would offer a brand new spring menu nationwide with drinks to indulge your spring excitement.

From a Coconut Crème Pie flavored iced coffee with vanilla, coconut and sweet pie crust flavors, to the returning fan favorite Butter Pecan flavored iced coffee boasting rich butter roasted pecan and sweet cream flavors. The company states both can be enjoyed hot and iced, and in any coffee, latte or macchiato.

Also, in direct competition to Starbucks’ new collection of teas, Dunkin’ Donuts is looking to introduce its first line of Fruited Iced Teas, featuring freshly-brewed black tea or green tea mixed with real fruit juice and topped with real pieces of fresh fruit. The drinks are expected in two flavors, Mango Pineapple and Blackberry.

Moreover, if you still miss your Coolattas, hot winter beverages will turn to frozen, including Original Hot Chocolate, Dunkaccino, Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate and Mint Hot Chocolate at participating Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout the country.
