Natasha Corrigan knew her newborn son might be on the larger side, but she never expected her baby to weigh 13 lbs. — and she gave birth naturally.
Corrigan, who lives in Melbourne, Australia, welcomed son, Brian on Jan. 24 after a 7-hour natural birth at Mercy Hospital for Women outside of Melbourne, PEOPLE reports.
“It was one of the most exhilarating and scariest moment of my life,” Corrigan shared. “I’m fortunate my husband and sister were there — they played a huge role in keeping me calm and listening to the doctors. The power of positive thinking is real!”
Corrigan is also mom to two daughters, who weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces and 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth, and she made sure to thank her husband, Brian Liddle, and the hospital's staff for their support.
“All the staff that were in the delivery suite were absolutely wonderful. They did their best to make sure me and the baby were okay,” she said. “They were also in shock at how big he was — he was the topic of conversation for the next few days!”
Corrigan added that she is looking forward to passing her Aboriginal traditions down to her children.
“My children and I love our connection to this country,” she said. “We share our culture through art and dance — we stay strong by sharing our cultural knowledge and history.”
She also shared a series of photos with her newborn to Facebook, thanking friends for their support.
"I never dreamed he'd be this big, thought he'd be an 11 pounder at the max!" she wrote. "But we were blessed with a safe delivery of a 13.5 pounder! I'm still in shock!!"
