High School Student Sells $1M in Custom Socks

When it comes to keeping a lot of balls in the air, 17-year-old Brennan Agranoff has a certain expertise.

The high school student does what most high school students do, goes to class, worries about exams, knocks out homework and balances a social life. But on top of all that, he also manages a full-time job. One he's had since he was 13.

According to CNN, Agranoff is the CEO of the custom sock startup HoopSwagg. 

In the four years that the high school student has been running the business, he's grown it into an operation that brings in over $1 million in sales a year. 

After he noticed all the kids wearing the same plain basketball socks, his internal lightbulb went off. Four years later HoopSwagg has more than 200 custom designs created by Agranoff himself, and he hopes to make it possible for customers to create their own designs in the future.

Now he ships out 70 to 100 orders a day and recently acquired the company TheSockGame.com which will allow the HoopSwagg family to grow by over 300 designs. 

His dream business started off small but has skyrocketed. Now his mother has joined the business full time and Agranoff also has 17 other part-time employees as well. And the craziest part? He's never taken a business class, though he learned a lot from purchasing items at garage sales and reselling them for a profit on eBay when he was younger. 

"So really, I've been learning how to do this for a while," said Agranoff. "Especially today, with all the information available on the internet, you can't be too young to learn how to be an entrepreneur."

Needless to say, if he ever does take a business class or decides to study entrepreneurship in college, we have a feeling he'll be at the head of the class in no time.
