'Cake Boss' Star Buddy Valastro Shares Touching Tributes to His Mother After Her Passing

Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro is mourning the loss of his mother.

The famous baker’s mom, Mary, passed away after her hard fought battle with ALS at the age of 69. Valastro revealed the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Thursday, June 22.

“It’s with an extremely heavy heart that I must share the news of my mother’s passing. She left for heaven this morning, surrounded by the family,” the celebrity chef, 50, captioned a photo of himself with his mother. “This is a difficult time for all of us and I do ask for your patience and respect while we let this sink in.”

The reality star added that is mom “is no longer suffering.” He concluded the sweet post, writing, “I hope she’s dancing to ‘I Will Survive’ with my dad right now.”

The Valastro family revealed Mary’s ALS diagnosis in 2012 during season five of Cake Boss.

In addition to Valastros touching tribute, the TLC star also shared a family photo with his mother and wrote, “Light of our lives.”

His famous bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey, was decorated in her honor with flowers and signs that read, “#1 Grandma” and “Mamma Mary.”
