While Lady Gaga is now a music megastar with multiple massively successful albums and a solid place in pop culture, the “Perfect Illusion” singer had to start somewhere.
The concert, held just before Christmas 2008, was in support of San Diego’s Rady’s Children’s Hospital. Concertgoers brought toys for a local radio station’s toy drive for the hospital and in exchange was treated to a live performance from the future Mother Monster herself.
In the video, Lady Gaga performs “Beautiful, Dirty, Rich,” “Poker Face” and “Just Dance” from The Fame and despite being a relatively new artist, the small-scale performance gives a peek into the artist’s future concerts with an elaborate costume, choreography and backup dancers. The performance also shows that the A Star is Born actress has been philanthropic from the very beginning.
The video also shows Lady Gaga taking a moment to sign autographs showing that, even though now she plays arenas instead of parking lots still knows how to appreciate her fans.
